World Oral Health Day – an initiative of the International Dental Federation (FDI) is celebrated annually on March 20. The actions carried out on this day aim to increase, at a global level, the level of awareness of the population regarding the importance of maintaining an optimal state of oral health at any age.

The campaign emphasizes the smart decisions that people can make regarding oral health throughout life, by adopting preventive measures – good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups – and by self-control of the risk factors involved in the occurrence of oral diseases – smoking, alcohol, sugar consumption, etc.

On the occasion of World Oral Health Day, the collaborators of the "Ion Lupan" Department of Pediatric Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and Pedodontics, in partnership with the Association of Dental Students, the Association of Dentists from the Republic of Moldova, the resident doctors of the Faculty of Dentistry of  SUMPh "Nicolae Testemițanu", with the support of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Dentistry of  SUMPh "Nicolae Testemițanu", during the month of March it carries out a series of informational and educational activities aimed at children, parents, teachers from schools and preschool institutions (from the municipality of Chisinau, the village of Slobozia-Dușca , Criuleni village, Onitcani village, Cărbuna village, Ialoveni village, Rezeni village, Ialoveni village etc.).

The theme of this year's activities was "The March of Healthy Smiles", because a healthy smile helps us enjoy life to the fullest, and for this it is worth making every effort.

Regardless of age, taking care of oral health is essential for the health of the whole body. Correct oral hygiene, regular visits to the dentist and a healthy lifestyle will help us all to protect our health.
